Legal Assistance and Representation
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault: We assist immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking obtain immigration legal status. We help individuals who are ready to escape their abusive conditions start a safe, healthy, and empowered life.
Human Trafficking: We assist victims of human trafficking obtain immigration legal status to remain in the United States. We co ordinate our efforts with several other service providers to provide holistic care to clients, including medical and mental health treatment, food, housing, and access to other benefits.
Asylum: We help individuals escaping from persecution in their home countries due to their race, ethnic group, religious affiliation, political opinion, gender, or social group, obtain asylum status to remain in the United States.
Crime Victims: We help victims of serious crimes and their families (“U” visa applicants) secure immigration status and obtain lawful permanent resident status in the United States. Due to the trauma many of these clients have suffered, we also assist these individuals apply for eligible public benefits, obtain employment authorization, find housing, and receive mental health care.
Family Unification/Reunification: We unite families and keep them together by providing assistance with family-based immigrant visas and helping family members when they are threatened with deportation.
Child Protection Advocacy: We help children and youth who were abused, abandoned, or neglected minors (Special Immigrant Juveniles) obtain lawful permanent resident status.
Citizenship: We help immigrants become naturalized citizens. At least twice a year, we join members of our Congressional Delegation in a Citizenship Workshop.
Deportation defense: We provide representation to qualifying applicants in removal (deportation/exclusion) cases. Due to limited resources, cases are screened based on priorities.
